These engine lids have the later style 'wire worm' hinge.
With some work this engine lid can be converted to suit the earlier VW Kombi’s from 1972 to 1975 with hinges.
Models made between 1972 to 1975 had a more conventional hinge, which will need to be replaced with 211 829 533 Hinge available here.
Also note the hinge recess on the body will be slightly wider than the new hinge.
