Standard Thrust Cam Bearings, Type 4 Based Engines, 021 198 541BR are a stock set of cam bearings that are fine to use for stock rebuilds. 

Proper bearing installation is very important.
Install the bearings into the case and then install the camshaft. Next, tap the cam fore and aft end to end using a soft piece of wood or a brass drift and use some force.
This seats the bearing properly into the case. Repeat this 4-5 times back and forth. THEN, you can check your end play and get an accurate measurement.
