This is the common upgrade for Porsche 911 with the CIS fuel injection systems. The pop-off valve, which is also commonly called a backfire protection valve. Continuous Injection System (CIS) engines can backfire through the air intake system airbox. This back pressure can crack the airbox and cause a major vacuum leak. The CIS airbox is expensive, and takes several hours of labor to install.The pop-off valve allows backfire pressure to escape harmlessly through the air intake. This easy modification will protect your 911 airbox from expensive damage. Most CIS cars have had this POV installed, however over the years the valve can wear out or even freeze closed. So it is a good idea to inspect and or remove and replace the POV to keep your Porsche running trouble free.
